The Petite Cascap\u00e9dia River is 92 km in length. The two branches that feed into the main river get their source waters from an altitude of 700 meters.<\/p>\n

These streams tumble down the Chic-Choc Mountains at an average gradient of 4.9 meters per kilometer and converge into a main section. Approximately 20 kilometers from its mouth in the Baie-des-Chaleurs at New Richmond, the river turns from northeast to southwest. The water is cold and crystal clear, making it easy to spot salmon in the pools.<\/p>\n

The Petite Cascapedia River has about 60 pools, more than 48 of the latter are found on the ZEC territory, spread over four sectors, three of which have limited access and one has non-limited access. The two sectors of the downstream portion of the west and east branches are reserved for fishing for sea trout (anadromous brook trout), which are found in large size. You can wade or canoe, and some pool are only accessible by boat. The most productive pools are on pebble bottoms. Catch and release of salmon over 63 cm is mandatory throughout the fishing season. Our Association promotes catch and release and we encourage you to do so even with grilse.<\/p>\n
